Our upcoming season and a primer on Centerpin
Our season on our local systems is right around the corner. I'm excited to get back on the water with you all. As many of you know, I specialize in centerpin, fly and spin/baitcast fishing in Northern California.
Some background on Centerpin:
Originating in Great Britain, the centerpin is a specialty reel designed for float fishing. The drag-less reel allows line to pull freely off the spool as the current pulls the float along with the flow of the stream. Flies, bait and artificial lures can be presented to fish at the same pace that the stream naturally presents food sources to the fish.
Centerpinning can be highly gratifying as it is extremely visual, and due to the one-to-one ratio on the reel retrieve with no drag, the fight is like no other. It is advised that if you do not have prior experience with this method of fishing, that you invest in a casting and rigging session prior to booking time on the water, as the casts required have a learning curve and take practice to master.
If you're looking to learn and get out on the water this season, give me a call or text and let's get out on the water.
